Birth Flowers

For April, the birth flower is the DAISY. There are several different varieties of flowers which bear similar characteristics of the daisy.

The True daisy is BELLIS PERENNIS.

Daisies are associated with innocence.

Daisies have been the subject of many verses. One favorite that everyone learns as a child is "s/he loves me, s/he loves me not." The popularity of this verse has resulted in the daisy being called Love's Oracle.

The Catholic Church adopted it as a symbol of the Virgin Mary because "Love Conquers All Things."

The GLADIOLUS Flower is the birth flower for August. It also represented the Roman Gladiators.

The gladiolus flower signifies Remembrance.

It also expreses infatuation, telling the receiver that he or she "pierces the heart."

Meaning: splendid beauty

My thoughts: beautiful & strong, yet able to LOVE.. Yep, sounds just like me.
